Form Builder

Overview

In this topic, we will learn how to create an Form from Form Builder. A inbold Form Builder primarily consists of  fields.

Create Form from Form Builder 

Create your Form from Form Builder by drag-and-drop the required fields to your blank spreadsheet. To create a form from Form Builder.

1.Click on New App option on the top of your App builder Page

2.Select Form Builder and click Create button .

 

3. Add the required fields to your Form by simple drag-n-drop, as shown in the screen-shot below

Text Box: A simple text box that allows users to input text and numbers.
Text Area: A multi-lined text box that gives users more room to enter text and gives them a larger area to view the data.
Combo Box: A combo box links to another app and provides a list of data that the user can select from.
Drop Down: A Drop Down allows the user to insert list of data that the user can select.
Date: A Date allows the user to select a date from a pop-up calendar.
Time: A Time allows the user to select a date from a pop-up Time.
Check Box: A checkbox can only be checked or unchecked.

 

 

Text Box

A text box's purpose is to allow the user to input text information to be used by the program.

Properties of Input Box

There are two main options 

  • Name
  • Functionality
  • Design                                        

a) Name: Consists of Control Header and Name.

b) Functionality:Functionality consists –    1) Data Type

                                                     2) Data Length

                                                     3) Validation

                                                     4) Unique For

                                                     5) Is Mandatory                                        

1) Data Type: you can choose the data type for the Input box you have inserted.

As shown in below figure, as you click on the data type “string” or the dropdown symbol, a list of data types is opened. You can choose the data type from that list.

a) String:

String consists of characters, integers, floats, special characters etc

b) Integer:

It consists of numbers from +2,147,483,647 to -2,147,483,647

c) Bool:

It consists of either 1 or 0

d) Date:

It consists of only date format. YYYY- MM- DD

E.g 2013-04-21

e) Float:

f) Time: It consists of time format. hh:mm

 e.g. 13:10

At the runtime, if you insert the wrong data, an error will be displayed as “Data contained in the field is not expected”                                     

2) Data Length:  By default, the data length is shown. For Input Box, the data length is 256. It should display an error at the runtime if you insert more than 256 characters.

3) Validation: It validates the data type

4) Unique for: you can choose the uniqueness for the Input box you have inserted.

As shown in figure below, as you click on the “None” or the dropdown, the list is opened. You can choose from that list.

a) Unique for Application

5) Is Mandatory: It is having one check Box, if the check box is enabled then that field is mandatory. At the run time if you skip that field then it gives error as “one or more mandatory fields are not filled

You can adjust Width of Text Box

2) ALT text:

It is a tool tip. When hovering your cursor over the field, it will show description of that field at runtime.

- this should be “hover the cursor over the field

Text Area

A text area can hold more character numbers than the Input box or text area.

 

Properties of Text Area

 

There are two main options  -  1) Name

                                          2) Functionality

                                          3) Design                                         

1) Name:  Consists of Control Header and Name.

2) Functionality: Functionality consists –  

                               a) Data Type

                                 b) Data Length

                                 c) Validation

                                 d) Unique For

                                 e) Is Mandatory                            

a) Data Type: you can choose the data type for the Input box you have inserted.

As shown in below figure, as you click on the data type “string” or the dropdown the list of data types is opened. You can choose the data type from that list.

String:

Combo Box

 

This allows the user to directly choose from a list of existing options.

 

Properties of Combo Box

 

There are three main options  -   1) Name

                                             2) Functionality

                                     3) Design                                         

1) Name:  Consists of Control Header and Name. The Combo Box ID is default.

2) Functionality:

a) Combo Value: Combo box needs to be linked with another app

When you insert combo box, click on the combo value symbol

The combo configuration window is now opened; there you can choose templates you want and fields to be displayed

 

As you click on the (...) button, the list will displayed as shown below

 

As you select template, the “Template Name List” window will displayed. You have to select at least one template from the list.

To open the folder in the list, there is arrow directed to right before the folder name click on that.

 

After selecting the template, click on the done. If you click on the “Done” button without selecting a template then it will show the dialog box with an error message

 

As you select the template name from the list, it is displayed in the “Template Name” field and Display Value field is displayed below the Template name

As you click on the Display Value field, the list of fields in the selected template are displayed.

 

Select the field from the list. As you select the field from list, optional field and No. of data fields are added.

 

If you want to add, optional fields then click on the “Add Control” option

 

As you click on the “Add Control” option it will show the list of fields available on the selected template.

No. of data is the field where you can choose the number of data displayed in the list at the runtime.

User

As you click on the (...) button, the list will displayed as shown below

 

Select user option.

In display value, List of controls in the Employee list is displayed. Select the option from list.

 

Group

As you click on the (...) button, the list will displayed as shown below

 

Select  Group option.

In display value, List of controls in the Group list is displayed. Select the option from list.

 

b) Data type: For Combo Box, by default the data type is Integer. You cannot change it.

c) Unique for

Drop Down

This allows the user to directly choose from a list  options.

a) Value List: Drop Down needs insert data

Date

It allows user to choose date from the calendar.

b) Data type: For Calendar, By default the data type is Date. You cannot change it.

c) Unique for: You can choose the uniqueness for the Input box you have inserted.

Time

It allows user to choose time from the Time.

Check Box

 

Properties of Check Box

1) Name: Consists of Control Header and Name.

 

2) Functionality:

a) Data type: For Check Box, By default the data type is Bool. You cannot change it.

b) Is Mandatory:

It is having one check Box; if the check box is enabled then that field is mandatory. At the run time if you skip that field then it gives error as “one or more mandatory fields are not filled

It is a tool tip. When hovering your cursor over the field, it will show description of that field at runtime.

Main Menu:

 

Save: 

1. You click on Save button,  as shown below

 

Insert form name and click Save button.

Publish Internal:

1.You Click on Publish button .shown below

2.Select the users that you want to Publish Internal the form with, then click Add

3. Click on publish button.

 

Publish External:

1. Click on Publish External button , shown below

2. Click on Publish Web Access,shown below

3.Click the Copy button and then Paste the link in the url

App property:

1. Click on App Property button , as shown below

The App Property  contain the following:

  1. Name: The Name of the template.
  2. Creation By: The user who created the template.
  3. Created On: Date and Time created.
  4. Functionality:  
    • Icon Creator – You can create  icon for your form. As you click on the “+” button, the “Icon manager” window will open. 
    • No Icon Image – You can set the icon for your app. As you click on the “+” button, the “Icon manager” window will open. You can choose the icon for your Form.
    • List Order By - You can add category of the app. As you click on the “+Add” to add category, the drop down will open which contains –List order by:
        • Creation Date
        • Modification date
        • Document Name
    • Is order Ascending:
        • True
        • False
    • Auto Name:
        • Save Dialog - A dialog will pop-up each time you save a transaction.
        • Save Dialog with suggestions
        • Direct save - Automatically saves the transaction using the Auto name formula created.
          • Auto name formula - e.g. FName + " " + LName
    • Is Unique Name:
        • True
        • False
    •  Date Format - (YYYY-MM-DD) You can change the date format
    • Transaction List - As you click on “+Edit” in transaction list, “Transaction List Manager” will open. Its use is to modify what columns will show on the transaction list.
